About
Just Another Tuesday in Manhattan follows Andy Jordan, a British graphic designer living in Woodside, Queens, whose ordinary life is transformed by a chance encounter in Bryant Park. While commuting to his design agency, Andy is mistakenly addressed as "Gino" by a stranger named Max, who calls him to meet later at Peter Dillon’s Irish bar. Driven by a moment of obsessive curiosity, Andy goes to the bar and comes face-to-face with Gino Bianchi - a man who is not just his double, but his identical twin.
Both men quickly discover they share more than just their faces; they were born on the same day, August 3, 1981 - and were both adopted as babies from a Catholic charity in Dublin, Ireland. While Andy was raised in South London and Gino in Queens, New York, a familial DNA test soon confirms they are 99% genetically identical.
Supported by their adoptive mothers, Jeannette and Angie, the twins embark on an emotional journey to find their biological mother, Brenda Kelly. Through an Ancestry DNA test, they connect with half-siblings in Ireland, Sinead and Niall, who reveal a harrowing family secret that Brenda had kept hidden for over forty years.
The story culminates in a journey to Dublin, where the twins learn that Brenda was a survivor of the Magdalene Laundries - punitive institutions where vulnerable women were forced into unpaid labor by the Catholic Church. As the three "Mums" finally meet, the novel explores themes of identity, the lasting scars of institutional trauma, and the resilience of a family fractured by time but reunited by fate.
